Doorbraaktechnologie energieopslag schaalt op in Flevoland
De Arnhemse startup Elestor installeert in de gemeente Noordoostpolder een flowbatterij met een vermogen van 50 kilowatt. Het innovatieve energieopslagsysteem op basis van waterstofbromide is eind 2018 operationeel.
Op de gemeentewerf in Emmeloord liggen sinds 2016 400 zonnepanelen en enkele kilometers verderop is deze week het grootste onshore windpark van Nederland officieel in bedrijf genomen. Daarmee is Emmeloord een toplocatie voor opslagstartup Elestor om zijn grootste prototype tot nu in de praktijk te testen.
Als onderdeel van de test kunnen deelnemers van de coöperatie Energiepioniers Noordoostpolder gebruikmaken van de opgeslagen elektriciteit. Hoeveel energie de testflowbatterij in Emmeloord kan vasthouden, vermeldt het persbericht niet. Wiebrand Kout, oprichter van Elestor, noemde in het interview hieronder een typische opslagcapaciteit van 150 à 250 kilowattuur voor systemen met een vermogen van 50 kilowatt.
