Elestor has a job opportunity for a: Software/Controls Engineer

Do you want to power the energy transition? Are you a team player; ready to take on varied and complex challenges?

As one of the most innovative and fast-growing companies in The Netherlands, Elestor offers exciting and competitive career opportunities with plenty of scope for both personal and professional development.

Position

As Software or Controls Engineer, you actively contribute to various industrial automation projects in which you will encounter challenges in a hands-on working and learning position. Your ultimate responsibility is developing, maintaining and troubleshooting control modules for our physical products. On top of your software skills, we are looking for general knowledge on electrical systems such as power electronics, E-inverters or process instrumentation.

Elestor's Software or Controls Engineer focuses on a range of small-scale (prototype) to large-scale (customer) projects in a company that is building a whole new class of assets for (long-duration) energy storage. It's an opportunity for curious individuals with the desire to be in the middle of innovation and have an innate drive to contribute to the energy transition.

The growth of the Elestor organization enables several development trajectories in which you can learn and accumulate ownership. For example, becoming a software automation expert in Elestor's flow battery - a solution that must and will be deployed massively in the very near future!

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Design of software modules in various languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Structured Text, Codesys, TIA portal and SQL)
  • Prepare and participate in the commissioning of automation systems
  • Schedule, maintain, and troubleshoot various automation software
  • Prepare Human Machine Interfaces and monitoring dashboards
  • Maintain and backup databases
  • Challenge the status quo and contribute to 21st-century engineering ways of working

Profile

Elestor is looking for an all-round Software or Controls engineer willing to learn, design and troubleshoot (a combination of thinking and doing). You are proactive and pragmatic in your behavior (and communication) and not afraid to challenge the status quo. Taking ownership of various assignments at once (while running multiple projects simultaneously) fits your ability to plan and execute accordingly. In addition, striving for ownership and slowly taking over responsibilities provides you with a lot of motivation (and energy)!

Education, skills and experience

  • Higher vocational (HBO) or academic (WO) education in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Mechatronic or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in software engineering
  • Experience in industrial automation such as PLC programming, HMI, and SCADA systems:

    • Siemens TIA portal

    • Siemens WinCC
    • Structured Text (CODESYS, PLCnext)
    • IIoT
  • Experience in following software engineering:

    • Solid knowledge of Python, Javascript, C#, C++

    • Familiar with Linux OS
    • Time series databases
  • Experience within an industrial setting with tasks and responsibilities related to commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Passionate in clean energy and electrical energy storage technologies
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience with working in an international company or international experience is a plus
  • An entrepreneurial mindset

Elestor's Mission & Relevance

Imagine a world without polluting power plants, powered purely by clean electricity…

This world is closer than you think. The sun and the wind are powerful enough, and so are the technologies to harvest their energy. However, possibilities to store renewable energy (sustainably, cost-effectively) are lacking; Long-Duration Electricity Storage (LDES) is ‘’the missing link’’ in the energy transition.

It is Elestor’s mission to cut the cost of electricity storage. We develop large-scale, cost-effective H2-FE storage technologies technologies that are carbon neutral and durable, thereby unifying the interests of the planet, people, and business profitability.
