Position
As an Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for selecting the right instruments our flow battery systems on a range of small-scale (prototype) to large-scale (customer) projects in a company that is building a whole new class of assets for (long-duration) energy storage. In selecting them you will also consider suitability for the process and automation, materials of construction, design requirements, installation & testing requirements and compliancy to relevant industry standards.
You are proficient in reading, interpreting technical documentation such as P&ID’s, the control narrative, electrical drawings and schematics based on engineering specifications and project requirements. To join our team, we are looking for an accomplished Instrumentation Engineer. To guarantee that projects are finished on schedule, within budget, and to the necessary specifications, you will collaborate with clients, other engineers, and technicians both during commissioning and during operation.

Tasks and responsibilities
- Instrumentation and control systems for industrial processes should be designed, developed, and tested.
- Choose and specify instrumentation parts, such as controllers, valve actuators, transmitters, and sensors.
- Setting up RfQ’s and review offers by manufacturers on functionality.
- Analysis and development of SIL loops.
- Setting up calibration and maintenance plans.
- Carry out calibration during commissioning and startup.
- Commissioning of process instrumentation (interfaces, controller tuning etc).
- Using CAD software, create schematics, diagrams, and layouts for control systems.
- For planned initiatives, carry out cost-benefit evaluations and feasibility studies.
- Review and approve instrumentation and control system design documents, including specifications, drawings, and calculations.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to stakeholders.
- Ensure that instrumentation and control systems are designed and installed in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
- Keep abreast on new developments in the field of instrumentation and control systems as well as market trends.
- Challenge the status quo and contribute to 21st-century engineering ways of working.
Profile
Elestor is looking for a dedicated Instrumentation Engineer willing to learn, design and troubleshoot (a combination of thinking and doing). You are proactive and pragmatic in your behavior (and communication) and not afraid to challenge the status quo. Taking ownership of various assignments at once (while running multiple projects simultaneously) fits your ability to plan and execute accordingly. In addition, striving for ownership and slowly taking over responsibilities provides you with a lot of motivation (and energy)!
Education, skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control system design, analysis, and implementation.
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations related to instrumentation and control systems, such as ISA, IEC, and NEC.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with industrial processes and equipment, such as pumps, motors, and valves, is a plus.
- Passionate in clean energy and electrical energy storage technologies.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience with working in an international company or international experience is a plus.
- An entrepreneurial mindset.
