Maximizing the value of renewable energy

Elestor_still_01_V2.png

Renewable energy projects often produce electricity when the renewable electricity supply is higher than the electricity demand, or when the grid cannot absorb additional power. This leads to curtailment and lost revenues for solar and wind assets.

Elestor’s hydrogen-iron flow battery provides long-duration energy storage that stores excess renewable electricity instead of curtailing it. The stored energy can then be dispatched during periods of higher demand or higher electricity prices.

Next to co-location, Elestor's solution can also be used in ‘cable pooling’ projects where solar and wind electricity projects are combined on one grid connection. Since these energy sources are most of the time complementary, Elestor's battery can maximize asset utilization and optimize the grid connection investments, improving the overall project economics.
